Jimmy Ira Carter gained extensive business experience before becoming an attorney, working for several Fortune 500 companies and his own businesses. He is uniquely qualified to help owners of small businesses and people who work in large corporations.

It was when he working in business in his own family law case that Jimmy was struck by how poorly family interests were protected by due process and the family law system in America when the needs of children, property, and conservatorship intersect. He discovered that in many ways, the justice system was often ill-equipped to take charge of something as emotionally sensitive as family dynamics. He felt compelled to make the system better, one case at a time.

Resolving Cases Quickly and Fairly

Jimmy believes in resolving family law and estate problems quickly and fairly, not in pushing for protracted litigation that is unlikely to have any real benefit. In cases involving children, he promotes parenting classes, therapy, and other measures that foster discussion and help people become better parents post divorce.

If you need to fight a court battle, Jimmy can do so. But he believes most people truly want to just get the unpleasantness of a divorce behind them, and move on to better lives. He works hard to get to know each client well and then get them what they truly need.

More than 12 Years as a Lawyer

Jimmy's perspective on the practice of law has been one informed by his successes. He has spent more than 12 years as a family law and estate planning lawyer and mediator in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. He is devoted to giving back to the community, doing pro bono mediation for Dispute Mediation Services of Dallas. Jimmy is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the College of the State Bar of Texas, and is certified to mediate family law cases.
